Graph Paper Press Seneca

By Wil on June 6, 2012

Seneca by Graph Paper Press is a versatile, responsive theme suitable for blogs, online magazines, and e-commerce applications powered by the WooCommerce plugin.

A theme with a responsive design will adapt the presentation of the web page to the screen of the device used by the visitor, be it a desktop, a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone. Hence, the theme responds to the size and orientation of the screen.

This theme supports natively up to four WordPress 3 menus:

  • Main Menu
  • Top Menu
  • Social Menu
  • Footer Menu

The Top Menu, however, is not available when you use the theme for e-commerce purposes. In such a case, the bar at the top of the page will display My Account, Cart and Checkout.

Seneca installs with seven custom widgets:

  • GPP Blog Posts
  • GPP Blog Posts Slider
  • GPP Product List
  • GPP Product Menu
  • GPP Product Slider
  • GPP Quote

The theme incorporates six widgetized areas:

  • Homepage
  • Sidebar 1
  • Sidebar 2
  • four Footer

The footer areas are disabled by default. You can enable the footer at the Layout tab of the Theme Options Panel and select one to four footer areas from a drop-down menu.

This Graph Paper Press theme offers six page templates:

The Theme Options panel serves three horizontal tabs:

  • General Settings
  • Colors and Fonts
  • Layout

At the General Settings there is a check box to indicate that you are using a third party SEO plugin. Checking this option will allow your SEO plugin to rewrite the titles of your posts and pages and allow you to craft an SEO-friendly site description.

The Colors and Fonts tab includes a field for the Google Font API and a checkbox in case you want to use these fonts site wide. The last field at this tab is a text area where you can add custom CSS.

The Seneca theme comes with one predefined color scheme; Light. `

Outside the panel, the theme adds two modules for custom post types: Team and Videos – both with their own taxonomies:

For you layout of the homepage, you have a choice out of three options:

  • traditional blog-style layout
  • widgetized blog homepage
  • widgetized e-commerce homepage

The Featured Image is supported partly, meaning it will show up on index pages and in the grid view, but not on the single post page as the first image. If you would like to display the Featured Image also as the first image in a post, you only have to push the Insert into Post button, right next to the Use as a featured image link.
